Scotsman's flash to our left

then tackled the notorious Poolstock locks (going up) then Henhurst Lock (going down). I wonder, is there anywhere else on the network where you can go up one lock then down another in such a short distance? I also wonder, would these locks be in such poor condition if they were, say, south of Middlewich? Poolstock No 2 has massively leaking lower gates (that C&RT have now decided won't be fixed this year) plus one upper gate so clogged with silt that it can't be opened more than a foot or so. Skinny Lottie can get through one gate only but any wide beams cannot now use this lock.
The amount of water lost through No 2 leaves the short pound above seriously short of water
to such an extent that Lottie is almost skimming the shopping trolleys and other detritus deposited in the canal by the moronic tendency. Not good enough C&RT!
Anyway, on to more pressing concerns, namely, do I wear my pjs tonight? Here's the problem. My shoulders get cold when I have my arms out from under the duvet (this problem doesn't apply to Elaine who routinely exposes little more than her nostrils once we have turned in). As I sometimes wake up very early I often dig out my iPad from under my pillow to read, resulting in cold shoulders. I preempted this last night by wearing my t shirt pjs. Result? Boiling hot, so much that I had to take my arms from under the duvet. Which is essential for reading but is not how I like to sleep. Solution? Both iPad and pj top now under the pillow! I am now looking forward to a good nights sleep under the duvet plus having warm arms and shoulders when I fire up the iPad to catch up on England's ghastly slide towards fascism - but let's not go there!
